Our Story

At Coastal Early Intervention Clinic, our story begins with our founders’ shared commitment to supporting children with complex developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs. With backgrounds that span education, psychology, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic practice, Tane and Kristen bring a unique and deeply complementary set of skills to their work with children and families.

Tane’s journey began in Out of Home Care and Disability Care, followed by the completion of a double degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education. He went on to lead across diverse K–6 school settings within the NSW public education system for over a decade. These experiences fostered a profound understanding of the challenges faced by children and their families—particularly those navigating trauma, neurodivergence, developmental delays, and behavioural or learning difficulties.

Time and again, Tane met families whose children had gone undiagnosed for far too long—missing crucial windows for early intervention due to delayed assessments and fragmented care. This drove his vision to create a space where education, family support, and therapy come together seamlessly to create bespoke early intervention programs.

Kristen is a Registered Psychologist with extensive experience supporting adults, adolescents, and children across private practice and clinical settings. She has worked closely with individuals impacted by trauma, including victims of crime, and has a strong foundation in supporting young people in Out of Home Care (OOHC).

Kristen holds particular expertise in perinatal and postnatal mental health and is passionate about empowering parents and families through holistic, evidence-based psychological support. With training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Schema Therapy, and a background in mediation, she brings deep insight and empathy to her dual roles in diagnostic assessment and parental counselling.

Kristen’s work is grounded in the belief that when families feel seen, supported, and emotionally safe, meaningful growth can take place—for both children and their caregivers.

Coastal Early Intervention Clinic was founded on this shared passion—to bridge the gap between education, therapeutic care, and family support. Our mission is to provide holistic, evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic services that empower children aged 2 to 10 and their families to thrive.

We are committed to fostering early developmental success through collaborative, family-centred care that nurtures each child’s unique strengths and needs. Our multidisciplinary team includes professionals in speech therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, physiotherapy, and educational consultancy, all working together under the guidance of our clinic directors to deliver integrated, high-quality care.

By supporting the whole child within the context of their family and community, we strive to promote meaningful growth and lasting, positive outcomes for every family we serve on the Central Coast.

Our service model has been purposefully designed to overcome the very barriers that so often delay a child’s progress. By offering timely access to both assessments and ongoing intervention, we reduce waiting times and ensure families receive the answers and support they need—when they need it most.

Each family is guided by a dedicated family liaison and supported by a collaborative team of clinicians who work together to provide clear communication, coordinated care, and a shared understanding of the child’s developmental needs. With a strong focus on early identification, family education, and therapeutic integration across home and school environments, our clinic ensures that no child is left misunderstood—and every child has the opportunity to flourish.
